Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold issued a statement saying all companies contracted with the county must comply with federal illegal immigration laws.
“Noncompliance … will be considered a material breach of the contract, constituting grounds for termination,” Leopold said in a statement this week, referring to laws prohibiting the hiring of illegal immigrants.
Leopold?s announcement came after reports of Howard County Executive Ken Ulman fired a housekeeper after learning she was an illegal immigrant.
Leopold, though a spokeswoman, would not comment on whether the Ulman incident sparked the executive order, nor would he comment further on the order.
