The incident comes after two people were shot outside the Columbia Heights Metro stop in Northwest, Washington, D.C., last week.

Separately, WMATA suspended service for parts of the Red line earlier in the day after smoke was spotted coming from the brakes on one rail car at the Gallery Place Station, according to the Washington Post. Service was suspended between the Farragut North and NoMa-Gallaudet stations. Officials did not find a fire, and the station was reopened after about an hour.
The Washington Examiner reached out to WMATA for a statement.
