Public opinion can always change, but so far it is not smiling on our Libyan adventure. Rasmussen has 34 percent favoring the intervention, whereas 48 percent want us to stay out.
Compare this with other wars, and the support they received at the outset:

- Gallup, March 22-25, 2003: 72 percent of Americans support going to war with Iraq.
- CNN/Gallup, Sept. 21-22, 2001: 82 percent of Americans support military action in Afghanistan.
- Gallup, March 19-21, 1999: 46 percent favor (and 43 percent oppose) military action in Kosovo.
Libya is unique among the conflicts above for the fact that it doesn’t enjoy even plurality support. The conflict it is most like, Kosovo, did not enjoy any uptick in support.
It is fair to note that this isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison. There is no Gallup data yet on Libya.
