The woman who accused now-Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault is still receiving threats the day Kavanaugh formally took his seat on the court.
Christine Blasey Ford publicly answered questions regarding her allegations before Congress in late September. And, according to her lawyers, she is still receiving threats that cause her to spend money on security.
“Justice Kavanaugh ascended to the Supreme Court, but the threats to Dr. Ford continue,” Ford’s lawyers, Debra Katz, Lisa Banks, and Michael Bromwich, told NPR.
Ford wrote last month that she had to move four times, and told Congress in her statements that she has had to live in several different secure locations with constant security and guards on duty.
Two separate GoFundMe campaigns were launched on Ford’s behalf and raised a combined total of $800,000, which her lawyers say she has been using for security and housing.
“Dr. Ford and her family have tremendous gratitude for the generous crowdfunded contributions they have received,” her lawyers said. “These funds have been used exclusively for necessary costs of physical security and housing occasioned by coming forward about her sexual assault by Brett Kavanaugh.”
The NPR reporter also noted that Ford has no available timeline on when she will be returning to her job as a psychology professor in the Bay Area.
