‘Photoshopped’: Trump slams ‘orangeface’ image of himself

President Trump blasted a photo of himself that circulated online in which he appeared to have odd tan lines on his face.

“More Fake News. This was photoshopped, obviously,” Trump said Saturday on Twitter about the photo. “But the wind was strong and the hair looks good? Anything to demean!”

The president responded with the comment to a tweet that referred to his tan as “orangeface.”

The photo originated online Friday with the unverified account White House Photos. The photo the account posted matches up with similar photos of the president taken that day by the Associated Press and others, but the skin tone in the unverified photo appears more starkly contrasted.

“Today, @realDonaldTrump was dancing with the sunset and strong winds when he walked to the Oval Office from the Marine One on the South Lawn,” the account said in a tweet. Online critics of Trump used the photo to poke fun at the president.

“@realDonaldTrump you look GORGEOUS tonight!!!!!!” actor Billy Eichner said mockingly. Dennis Herring, a record producer, compared the look to blackface, calling it “Trumpface.”

Vox editor Nisha Chittal warned people to be “skeptical” of the photo’s authenticity. “Lots of people sharing that tan line photo of Trump as though it’s legitimate,” she said on Twitter. “It’s from an unverified account, and the photographer named — William Moon — has no affiliation with the White House or any press outlet. Let’s be more skeptical, people.”
