Ivey formally enters P.G. race for Congress

Glenn Ivey filed paperwork to make his run for Congress, setting the stage for a primary challenge against incumbent Democratic Rep. Donna Edwards. Ivey, a former Prince George’s County state’s attorney, announced his intent to run against Edwards in Maryland’s 4th Congressional District last week, two years after he first considered a run for Congress after leaving office in Prince George’s.

In the end he decided against running and has since been in private practice as a partner at Venable LLP.

While Edwards has served in Congress since 2008, the newly redrawn congressional district map has drastically altered the makeup of 4th District. Once covering parts of Montgomery County, the lines have been redrawn to eliminate Montgomery and replace it with large swaths of Anne Arundel County.

Most of the district’s boundaries still lie within Prince George’s County.
