Donald Trump mocked Republican presidential rival Ted Cruz on Wednesday for vetting former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina as his vice presidential pick.
“First of all, he shouldn’t be naming anybody because he doesn’t even have a chance,” the Republican presidential front-runner said during a phone interview on “Fox and Friends” Wednesday morning. “He’s millions of votes behind, he’s hundreds of delegates behind […] He’s got no path to victory and he’s naming a vice presidential candidate. I guess that’s cute.”
CNN reported Tuesday that Fiorina, a 2016 presidential hopeful who dropped out in February, and other possible vice presidential candidates were giving their tax returns to Cruz’s campaign as part of the vetting process.

In another phone interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America” earlier Wednesday, Trump ripped Fiorina as someone who “never resonated with the people.”
“If you’ll remember, remember … we had so many candidates ahead of us on that stage but she had the one good debate,” Trump said of the first Republican undercard debate in August. “She went up, then she dropped like a rock and never resonated with the people. So, I mean, Carly is not going to do the trick. I like Carly. Nice person but she never resonated. She didn’t do well. She went — she was very low in the polls and by the end she was an insignificant player.”
Trump also said that it is “too early” for Cruz to be acting toward naming a vice presidential candidate, because “he’s wasting his time because he won’t be the nominee.”
