Trump leading all 2020 Democratic candidates: Poll

President Trump is leading all of the 2020 Democratic presidential candidates in head-to-head matchups, according to new polling.

A new USA Today/Suffolk University poll of registered voters showed Trump beating top Democratic contender Joe Biden by three percentage points in a head-to-head matchup. The president was also up by eight points and five points, respectively, against Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Bernie Sanders of Vermont. Trump led South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg by double digits.

Trump promoted the poll Tuesday on Twitter, saying it showed “the American people are smart.”

“The new USA Today Poll, just out, has me leading all of the Democrat contenders. That’s hard to believe since the Fake News & 3 year Scams and Witch Hunts, as phony as they are, just never seem to end,” he wrote.

The poll took a sample of 1,000 voters between Dec. 10-14 and had a margin of error of three percentage points. The results line up with another poll released Monday, which showed Trump beating all of the top Democratic contenders except Biden.

The president’s lead in the poll comes as Democrats in the House push for his impeachment over his Ukraine dealings. A majority of voters oppose the Senate removing Trump from office if the House votes to impeach him. Only 45% of voters wanted to see the president impeached and removed.
