Grammy Award-winning, insult-throwing rapper Kanye West tried to apologize for implying that former President George W. Bush is a racist.
The singer said during a taped interview with NBC “Today Show” host Matt Lauer that he was “in a situation of high emotion” five years ago when West accused Bush of not caring about black people during a televised fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Katrina. In the interview broadcast Wednesday, West told Lauer that “I didn’t have the grounds” to call Bush a racist. The former president, appearing live on the same show, told Lauer that he “appreciates” West’s sentiment. In his new memoir, “Decision Points,” Bush refers to the West incident as the “all-time low” of his presidency.
