Former President Donald Trump, who was barred from using a multitude of social media websites, is reportedly set to return through the creation of “his own platform” in the next two to three months.
“I do think that we’re going to see President Trump returning to social media in probably about two or three months here with his own platform,” Trump’s former spokesperson, Jason Miller, told Fox News’ Media Buzz. “And this is something that I think will be the the hottest ticket in social media. It’s going to completely redefine the game and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does. But it will be his own platform.”
He continued: “I can’t go much further than what I was able to just share, but I can say that it will be big once he starts. There have been a lot of high powered meetings he’s been having at Mar a Lago with some teams of folks who have been coming in. And I got to tell you, there have been- it’s not just one company that’s approached the president. There have been numerous companies.”
Miller estimated “millions, tens of millions of people” could join the former president on his new platform.
Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot that saw at least five deaths as thousands clashed with police. All three companies have since extended the Trump’s suspensions on the platforms indefinitely.
FACEBOOK BLOCKS DONALD TRUMP FROM PLATFORM ‘INDEFINITELY’
“We believe the risks of allowing the president to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great,” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement 24 hours after the unrest. “Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”
Similarly, Twitter permanently severed ties with the former commander-in-chief, who was a routine user.
“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them — specifically how they are being received and interpreted on and off Twitter — we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” the company wrote in an announcement.
“In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action. Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.”
Since he left office, Trump, and those in his orbit, have resorted to sending email statements through his post-presidential office and political action committee to get his word out to the masses. Miller said the prepared statements have been getting “more play” than ever.
“The fact the president’s been off of social media for a while because his press releases, his statements have actually been getting almost more play than he ever did on Twitter before,” he said. “I’m not sure if that’s because the length of them are a bit longer. We even had one reporter say that she thought it was much more elegant, the way that the president was able to communicate his thoughts and very much looked more presidential in that longer form.”
