Some great events that got the holidays off to a cheerful start:
» The folks at Maroon Public Relations sure know how to throw a home run of a party, especially when the location is the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards. “If you are a true Baltimoron sports geek, this is a must-visit. It?s beyond fantastic,” said guest Nestor Aparicio, who should know. He is the owner of a local sports radio station. Other guests at the recent event included make-up miracle-maker Linda Seidel of Seidel Cosmetics, Mark Viviano of WJZ-TV and ESPN Radio, Hugh Sission, who is CEO of Clipper City Brewing, and Scott Livingston, who is news director at Fox-45. All came bearing gifts of warmth, as mittens, hats and scarves were collected for the children at St. Vincent?s in Hunt Valley.
» His name is Little Richard, but he still can belt out the big tunes, as hundreds gathered at the Valley Mansion in Cockeysville to hear the 1950s rock icon sing the old hits and support the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African-American History and Culture?s annual gala, which honored George L. Russell. The occasion also marked the museum?s second anniversary. “Honoring George Russell [who was pivotal in making the museum happen] is so fitting for this lovely evening,” said Nancy Grasmick, the state?s superintendent of schools. Grasmick?s hubby, Lou, is the chairman of the museum?s development and fundraising committee. It was a “wop bop a loo bop a lop bam bam” good time.
» It was an old-fashioned Baltimore party at the Geppi Museum, complete with dancing “Holiday Hons.” A visit by Mrs. “Hon” Clause, whose hubby was too busy to attend, and a first-ever “Crabs for Christmas” concert ?starring David Deboy ? dazzled the crowd, as guests munched on Hampden pate(meatloaf on white bread with ketchup, of course).
