MMA fighters take down Houston gunman at sushi restaurant

A pair of mixed martial arts fighters were hailed as heroes Monday after they took down a gunman at a sushi restaurant in Texas.

When police responded to RA Sushi in Houston around 11:30 p.m., they discovered the gunman had already been disarmed by two customers.


“Me and my buddy, we ran to the shooter, got him down, strangled him, took the gun from him, and then called the police. Police came and got him,” Patrick Robinson, one of the fighters, said, according to FOX 26 Houston.

“We fight for a living, so it was just quick instincts.”

UFC welterweight Kevin Holland was the other good Samaritan who jumped the gunman.

The suspect, reportedly Jesus Edrai Cardiel Samaniego, fired one shot into the air when he was brought down by Robinson and Holland.

He has been charged with felony deadly conduct and a misdemeanor for unlawfully carrying weapons, according to court records.
