Bernie Sanders requested a complete check and recanvass of every vote in the Kentucky primary, which Hillary Clinton narrowly won last week.
The Vermont senator signed and sent out the request Tuesday morning, writing, “Pursuant to KY statute (KRS 117.305), I hereby request a full and complete recanvass of every one of the voting machines and absentee ballots from all precincts and all 120 counties involving the Demoratic presidential race fromthe 2016 primary election.”

A recanvass serves a similar purpose as a recount, as it verifies the accuracy for the vote totals reported from the voting machines. Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes, a Clinton supporter, said that the county boards of elections would begin the process on Thursday morning.
Clinton won the May 17 Kentucky primary by just 1,923 votes, according to the original totals, or winning 46.8 percent of the vote to Sanders’ 46.3 percent. As a result the two candidates received 28 and 27 pledged delegates, respectively.
Sanders is 856 delegates short of the Democratic nomination but there are only 781 left to be allocated in the remaining contests.
