Shanghai Disneyland was shut down temporarily on Sunday after a patron tested positive for COVID. The amusement park was required to test almost 34,000 people before allowing them to leave. On Monday, the park reported all visitors tested negative but ordered attendees to stay in quarantine for 24 hours before seeking a second test.
The park and the surrounding shopping and dining complex will be closed until at least Wednesday, Shanghai Disneyland told the Wall Street Journal.

On Sunday, the Chinese theme park announced across park communications that it would no longer accept any new visitors and would cooperate with an epidemiological investigation from another province. The park then shut down as Shanghai city healthcare workers and police conducted COVID-19 tests for all visitors inside the park before letting them leave.
Shanghai Disneyland’s sudden shutdown reflects how intense the country has been about isolating possible COVID breakouts. China is the last major country to have a “Zero Covid” policy. The Chinese government has responded aggressively to minor incidents of COVID-19, often requiring businesses to close and testing large areas of residents.
