Obama campaign goes after Hispanic voters

President Obama’s reelection team kicked off a campaign to win over Hispanic voters on Wednesday with the release Spanish-language TV and radio ads in Colorado, Nevada and Florida.

The ads feature Latinos who work for Obama’s campaign talking about how the president’s policies have helped them.

“The release of the ads coincide with the launch of Latinos for Obama, the largest ever national effort to engage Latino Americans in their communities and involve them in the upcoming election through voter registration, volunteering and voting,” the Obama campaign said in a statement.

The ads are the first in a series that will target Hispanics, campaign officials said.

The launch of Latinos for Obama comes two days after Republicans launched a jobs-focused campaign aimed at attracting the same demographic.

“We are going to engage Hispanics and Latinos like we never have before,” Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Monday in announcing the GOP’s efforts to woo back Hispanic voters.
