Rudy Giuliani: Proudest moment will be when Trump wins Nobel, tells detractors to ‘shove it’

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said his proudest moment will be when President Trump wins a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to bring peace to the Korean peninsula and tells detractors to “shove it.”

“This is our best president in my memory,” Giuliani, who is part of Trump’s legal team, said in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday.

He argued that even his “hero,” former President Ronald Reagan, did not make as much progress on foreign policy as quickly as Trump.

“Look at what is going on with North Korea,” Giuliani said. “I told the president, ‘You’re going to get the Nobel Peace Prize and my proudest moment is when you tell them to shove it.’ Sorry.”

“No, no, no,” Hannity said in response. “This is cable, we’re good here,”

The comments come after Trump was formally nominated by House Republicans for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize on Wednesday, a move led by Rep. Luke Messer, R-Ind.

“This is more progress in North Korea than we saw during the entire Obama administration,” Messer said in a statement. “And it’s the direct result of President Trump’s leadership on the world stage.”

Last week, South Korean President Moon Jae-in had a historic meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which resulted in an agreement to sign a peace treaty and a stated dedication to denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.

All this happened before a planned meeting between Trump and Kim. Moon has given Trump credit for the recent thaw in North Korea relations, advocating for the idea of giving Trump a Nobel prize.

Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect that Rudy Giuliani is referring to critics when he says he looks forward to President Trump telling “them to shove it.”
