As expected, D.C. United midfielder Andy Najar was named to the roster of the Honduran under-23 national team that will compete in the London Olympics next month.
Najar, 19, will join the national team on July 2 and could miss as many as four D.C. United matches.
The Hondurans, who finished second in the same CONCACAF qualification tournament in which the U.S. team was unexpectedly eliminated, play their first Olympic match is against Morocco on July 26 at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Scotland.
Honduras is also paired with Spain and Japan in Group D. With 16 teams in the competition, the top two from each of four groups advance to the knockout, which begins August 4. The full Olympic soccer schedule can be found here.
Najar has two assists in 11 games (nine starts) this season.
