Clinton done spending money on primaries, turns to general

Hillary Clinton’s campaign will not spend any more money on advertisements in the upcoming primary states, and instead will turn its focus to the general election.

According to advertising spending data, the Clinton campaign hasn’t spent any money on the upcoming primaries in West Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Oregon and West Virginia. In contrast, the Bernie Sanders campaign has spent more than $1 million combined in those states: $555,000 in California, $382,000 in Indiana, $123,000 in Oregon, $60,000 in Kentucky and $22,000 in West Virginia.

After her five primary wins on Tuesday night, Sanders would need to win 81 percent of the remaining pledged delegates and superdelegates, while Clinton just needs 19 percent of the remaining delegates.

On Tuesday, the Sanders campaign announced it was cutting hundreds of campaign staffers to focus their efforts on winning the California primary. The former secretary of state currently leads Sanders 49-42, according to an average of polls provided by RealClearPolitics.
