After Vice President Mike Pence announced his new press secretary would be Katie Waldman, the news of the hire drew even more attention when Washington Post reporter Nick Miroff pointed out that the 27-year-old is dating White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller.
Waldman was heavily mocked across social media this week for her Trump administration beau, with some taking bigger shots at Miller and expressing pity towards her, while others criticized her past remarks.
My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone dating Stephen Miller.

Stephen Miller is trending because we learned someone is dating him.
And now we pray for her.

So “Stephen Miller is dating” is trending. People on here expressing sympathy for the woman, Katie Waldman. You do realize she is working for Pence and just worked for Secretary of caging children Kirstjen Nielsen right? That’s like a solid match on a dating app

So Stephen Miller finally found a girl who likes to play, “It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again.”
And before you pity her, she describes asylum seekers as “a violent mob of migrants,” and just accepted a job working for Pence. ??♀️ pic.twitter.com/aYUBnZ4xe1

Stephen Miller has a girlfriend. So far it’s been a very traditional courtship! He wined her, he dined her, he flew into her room at night and drank her blood…

Imagine working for Mike Pence and that’s not even close to the worst life decision you’ve made https://t.co/V3XPkqDLs6

In addition to the Twitter mockery, CNN contributor and part-time The View co-host Ana Navarro took a dig at Waldman and Miller’s relationship, expressing surprise on Friday’s episode of The View that Miller is dating “a human being.”
“Stephen Miller is actually dating a human being, not an inflatable,” she said, calling news of their relationship a ploy to “distract” Americans from the recent revelation of a intelligence community whistleblower complaint that reportedly centers around President Trump’s July phone call with the leader of Ukraine.
She expressed a similar sentiment on Twitter as well.
In an attempt to distract us from the very serious whistle blower claims, the Trump Administration sent Rudy out to act completely bonkers on national tv, and also told us Stephen Miller is dating someone — not an inflatable.
We need to stay focused, America. Focus! https://t.co/je7jL06TeC

Before joining Pence’s office, Waldman worked for the Department of Homeland Security, the National Republican Senatorial Committee, and some Republican lawmakers, including Arizona Sen. Martha McSally.
Like Miller, who has faced criticism in part due to his positions on immigration, Waldman has garnered attention for her own immigration views. While serving as deputy press secretary at DHS, for example, she defended the administration’s controversial family separation policy and made several unsubstantiated claims about immigrants, including calling asylum seekers a “violent mob of migrants.”
