Ted Cruz and Rand Paul argued during Thursday’s Fox News GOP Debate about which one of them is the real liberty candidate — in the model of three-time presidential candidate former Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas).
Cruz noted his record in supporting the limitations of the NSA to collect data and defying the war hawks in the Senate like Sen. Marco Rubio.

Rand Paul slammed Cruz for failing libertarians during the fight to audit the Federal Reserve.
“I think whats interesting about where that liberty vote goes that my father brought to the Republican Party is I don’t think they are necessarily going to go for Ted,” Paul said during the debate. “Ted didn’t show up. We had an ‘Audit the Fed’ vote, which was the biggest thing my father had advocated for 30 years, Ted didn’t show up. He was the only Republican who didn’t show up for it. I think that vote is going to stay in the Paul household, more of it is coming.”
The elder Paul spent decades campaigning to audit the Fed, ultimately resulting in passing the bill in the House in 2012.
Cruz said that he supported the bill, but knew it wouldn’t pass and had a prior commitment in New Hampshire. He continued by stating he would proudly support the bill when he is elected president.
