Hillary Clinton has attacked Donald Trump because he didn’t rebuke an audience member who asserted President Obama is a Muslim, and not American.
The Huffington Post reports:
Trump interrupted the question, chuckling, and said, “We need this question. This is the first question.”
Clinton called Trump’s failure to refute the comments “disturbing.”
“Donald Trump not denouncing false statements about POTUS & hateful rhetoric about Muslims is disturbing, & just plain wrong. Cut it out. -H”
But back in 2008, Clinton’s campaign stoked rumors about President Obama being Muslim. Clinton’s campaign sent a photo of then-Senator Obama wearing Somali garb to the Drudge Report. At the time, Obama aides said it was an attempt by Clinton to draw attention to charges that Obama was Muslim. Obama’s campaign manager, David Plouffe, called it “the most shameful, offensive fear-mongering we’ve seen from either party in this election.” The Clinton campaign did not deny sending the picture.
Even if Clinton is indeed as appalled by Trump as she claims, one might think she’d like to return Trump’s donations to the Clinton Foundation. However, she has made no indication that she intends to do so. Note that Trump and his daughter have donated over $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation. Trump has also claimed Bill and Hillary Clinton have asked him for large donations to the foundation.
