Obama canceled a planned visit with U.S. troops in Germany because, his spokesman said, it would be “inappropriate to make a stop to visit troops at a U.S. military facility as part of a trip funded by the campaign.” But after a July 2 campaign event in Colorado, “Obama later paid a private visit to the U.S. Air Force Academy and Peterson Air Force Base and raised money for his campaign at a $1,000-per-person event at a luxury hotel.” That trip to Colorado was certainly “funded by the campaign”. So how was that visit okay if visiting troops in Germany is “inappropriate”?
