SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Former Florida Panthers captain Bryan McCabe has returned to the organization as its manager of player development.
Panthers general manager Dale Tallon announced the hiring on Monday. McCabe will work alongside player development director Brian Skrudland to monitor progress and development of the team’s prospects.

McCabe says he’s grateful for the chance and that he’ll draw upon his 16 NHL seasons to help mentor the Panthers’ younger players.
A former defenseman, McCabe appeared in 1,135 NHL games for the New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Vancouver, Chicago, Toronto and Florida. He was named Florida’s captain in 2009 and held the role until the Panthers traded him to the Rangers in February 2011.
