Trump doesn’t like his vote totals being compared to Clinton’s

Donald Trump is mad that Hillary Clinton leads him in terms of total votes this primary season, saying it is not a fair comparison.

Clinton has earned approximately 12.44 million total votes in the Democratic primary, while Trump has amassed 10.65 million total votes in the GOP primary. Trump has won a plurality share of Republican voters support nationwide, but believes he would have earned millions of more votes if other candidates had not run.

Trump continued to complain about his competition and said defeating one primary opponent is much easier than surpassing 17 where a majority of Republican voters’ support is divided among his challengers.

Trump may be looking to run up the score as the primaries come to a close, as part of his effort to beat back ‘Never Trump’ Republican critics.

But Trump has also asked people to stop voting for him. The West Virginia primary will occur on Tuesday, but Trump told Republicans in the Mountain State last week to “save your vote for the general election in November” and not to bother voting in the primary.

Trump, who has no scheduled campaign events on Monday, mercilessly trashed his political opponents on Twitter to begin his first full week as the presumptive GOP nominee.
