McCain pins refugee crisis on Obama

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on Wednesday pointed to a picture of Aylan Kurdi, the 3-year-old Syrian who was found drowned off the coast of Turkey last week, and essentially said his death is President Obama’s fault.

“This crisis didn’t come out of nowhere, it’s the predictable result of this administration’s policies,” McCain said on the Senate floor.

“This did not happen by accident, it happened because of leading from behind,” McCain charged.

The senator also chided Obama for the Iran nuclear deal that all Republicans oppose, and said Obama struck a deal with “the leading state sponsor of terror in the world,” and “the patron of the Assad regime,” the government of embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad.

The senator closed: “It’s not too late — we must not avert our eyes,” and invoked Winston Churchill.

Last week, GOP presidential candidate Marco Rubio said Obama shares some of the blame for the crisis, and said Obama allowed the situation in the Middle East to “spiral out of control.”
