Rudy Giuliani’s son tests positive for coronavirus after attending RNC press conference

Andrew Giuliani, the son of Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani, announced Friday that he tested positive for COVID-19 one day after attending his father’s press conference about allegations of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

“This morning, I tested positive for COVID-19,” Andrew Giuliani tweeted. “I am experiencing mild symptoms, and am following all appropriate protocols, including being in quarantine and conducting contact tracing.

Andrew Giuliani, who is in his 30s, works in the White House as a public liaison assistant to the president. CNN’s Shimon Prokupecz tweeted that he “was in the Rose Garden last Friday and regularly does not wear a mask at the [White House].”

Other reporters confirmed that Andrew Giuliani was in attendance “at the back of the room” at the press conference held at the Republican National Committee headquarters on Capitol Hill by the Trump legal team, whose allegations of widespread voter fraud and sworn affidavits were coupled with claims involving dead Latin American socialist leaders and George Soros and repeated criticisms toward the press.

No one who spoke during the press conference wore a mask. Throughout the press conference, Rudy Giuliani used the same cloth to cough into and wipe his face.

Andrew Giuliani’s diagnosis is one of many within Trump’s orbit. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows tested positive for COVID-19 earlier this month, and the president himself tested positive a month before Election Day. Trump and his associates have continued to host crowded, indoor events where many do not wear masks, including a White House event on election night.

Following Andrew Giuliani’s announcement, Trump team legal adviser Jenna Ellis tweeted that both she and Rudy Giuliani had tested negative for COVID-19.

“Mayor @RudyGiuliani and I have both tested negative for COVID-19,” Ellis tweeted. “The entire legal team will continue to follow the advice and protocols of our doctors.”

The Washington Examiner reached out to Rudy Giuliani for further comment.
