Fashion designer Tom Ford revealed on Wednesday he declined to dress future first lady Melania Trump years ago.
“She’s not necessarily my image,” he said during an interview on “The View.”
But the London-based designer also said former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton “shouldn’t be wearing my clothes” had she won the election.
“They’re too expensive, and I don’t mean that in a bad way,” Ford said. “I think to relate to everybody, you shouldn’t be [wearing such pricey clothing].”
Ford did admit that he dressed first lady Michelle Obama in 2011 during her visit to Buckingham Palace.
Ford is the second designer to publicly say he would not dress Trump.
Designer Sophie Theallet wrote an open letter to Melania Trump in early November saying the “rhetoric of racism, sexism and xenophobia unleashed by [Donald Trump’s campaign] are incompatible with the shared values we live by.”
