Hillary Clinton’s advantage over Donald Trump has slipped to 3 percentage points, 45-42, among likely voters nationwide in a four-way race for president, according to a new poll from CBS News/New York Times.
Clinton previously led Trump by 9 points, 47-38, and 4 points, 45-41, in two October polls from CBS/NYT.
About a third of likely voters who have yet to cast a ballot say they are less likely to vote for Clinton in the wake of the news of the FBI’s decision to review recently recovered emails belonging to a top Clinton aide.
And voter enthusiasm is down from four years ago. About 49 percent of likely voters said they were “very enthusiastic” about voting as compared to 62 percentage points in 2012.
The CBS/NYT poll surveyed 1,561 adults nationwide, including 1,333 registered voters, from Oct. 28-31 by landline telephones and cellphones. The margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
