I will say that this incident was the subject of some high-level conversations on the helicopter en route to Andrew’s Air Force Base this morning.”

— White House deputy press secretary Josh Earnest, discussing Monday night’s Kiss Cam “controversy,” in which President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama failed to properly kiss the first time they were showed on screen at the Team USA basketball game at the Verizon Center. (The pool report said they were booed because of this inaction). A reporter asked Earnest if the president had a reaction to being turned down by his wife and Earnest explained that the Obamas didn’t realize that it was the Kiss Cam they were on, even though it looked like POTUS attempted to lean in for a smooch. During halftime, Earnest said that Sasha and Malia called their parents out for not puckering up, which they did the second time the Kiss Cam caught up with the Obamas.
