Longtime NFL scout Dave Razzano wouldn’t waste a high pick on a receiver. Why? Because, he says, history shows that you can find a good one in the middle rounds. And that’s what the Redskins tried to do. They picked three receivers in rounds three through six.
But it should also be noted that of the 15 receivers who gained at least 1,000 yards this past season, nine were former first-round picks. But two were seventh-rounders and another was an undrafted free agent.

However, gems can appear from anywhere, and Razzano said the Redskins have a chance to unearth one. And he offered his scouting report on each wideout:
Third-round pick Leonard Hankerson » “Hankerson is a good player. He can stretch the defense. He’s big. That’s what they need. Their receivers are small, and he’s a big target with good hands. He has big-play ability.”
Fifth-round pick Niles Paul » “Paul is a big guy. He’s a second-round talent, and he had some injuries. He’s probably the best receiver they’ve had [at Nebraska] in five or six years. He has good hands. He’s productive and he has speed. He’ll catch the ball over the middle. If he was in a real pass-happy offense he would have had 90 catches for 1,300 yards.”
Sixth-round choice Aldrick Robinson » “Aldrick Robinson was productive, a good-hands guy. He’s a real good separator and has real soft hands, and he can run after the catch. He’s not a burner, but he’s consistently a good route-runner, and he works to get open. He has some running back in him after the catch.”
