Trump ally: Fan violence beyond my control

Roger Stone, a close friend and former adviser of Donald Trump, suggested he would not stop Trump supporters from using information he provided them to harm GOP delegates who oppose Trump.

Stone, who has begun organizing “Days of Rage” protests for this summer’s convention, previously said he would publicize the hotel room numbers of delegates to the Republican National Convention. He insisted on camera to CBS Miami that he does not want violence. But in a candid moment caught by a hot mic, Stone took a much more callous approach to the potential for such intimidation to become violent.

“When did I say violence?” Stone told CBS Miami. “I didn’t say go to their rooms and kick the s—t out of ’em.”

Looking down at his phone, he added, “If that should happen, that would be beyond my control, but —”

He continued to say that the only thing worse than being wrong in politics is appearing boring and he recognizes how to get attention online by being outrageous.

Stone has been criticized as “Trump’s henchman” by his detractors and CNN and MSNBC banished him from their airwaves. In recent days, some Republican operatives have called for barring him from the convention in Cleveland and conservative personality Glenn Beck has looked into suing him for defamation.

If the GOP nomination appears to be slipping from Trump’s grasp at a contested convention, it would appear unlikely that Stone would take the news lying down.
