The red sweater worn by the undecided voter who became an Internet sensation after Sunday’s presidential debate has sold out online, according to GQ.
The men’s fashion magazine reported that it hadn’t reached out to Bone to identify what brand of zip-up cable cardigan the soft-spoken audience member wore while asking the final question in Sunday’s presidential debate. But the IZOD model they suggested for potential Halloween costumes sold out on Amazon by Monday morning.
Bone wore the exact same sweater for a CNN interview on Monday because “it’s more famous than me. I just had to bring myself along.” The everyman told CNN that he was going to wear a “really nice olive suit” to the debate, but threw on the sweater after he accidentally split his pants.
“I had a really nice olive suit that I love a great deal and my mother would have been very proud to see me wearing on television but apparently I have gained about 30 pounds and when I went to get in my car the morning of the debate I split the seat of my pants all the way open,” he said. “So the red sweater is plan B. I’m glad it worked out.”
Asked what he thought about a woman tweeting that he became the “real MVP of the debate” because he is 33 percent confidence, 33 percent calming demeanor, 33 percent hugability and 1 percent “power stache,” Bone responded he believed his facial hair should get far more credit.
“If I am being honest, I really feel like the mustache deserves more than 1 percent but I’m glad it got on the list,” he said.
