Fox News slapped with sex discrimination lawsuit: Report

Fox News was slapped with another lawsuit on Thursday, according to a report.

The New York Times reports that former Fox News reporter, Jessica Golloher, filed a state lawsuit that claims the network subjected her to sex discrimination over multiple years by two supervisors. The report says that less than a day after reporting the problem, Fox News eliminated her position.

One specific case mentioned in the lawsuit is about Golloher was sent to the 2014 Sochi Olympics with a male colleague. She claims the network told her to “piggyback” onto and “defer” to his actions. After complaining, Golloher says a supervisor told her “this is how we are doing this.”

Other instances mentioned in the lawsuit include Golloher complaining that her supervisors didn’t take adequate action after she complained about demeaning behavior she endured from a male colleague based in New York, and Golloher claiming Fox News repeatedly denied her request to report abroad, but was rejected while sometimes her male counterparts were approved for similar trips.

In a statement, Fox News asserted that Golloher’s claims “are without merit.”

“Her allegations of discrimination and retaliation are baseless. We will vigorously defend the matter,” the statement read.

Another recent New York Times report led to exit of longtime host Bill O’Reilly. That investigation found found either O’Reilly or Fox News’ parent company, 21st Century Fox, paid five women a total of $13 million in exchange for agreeing to not pursue litigation or speak about their accusations of sexual harassment or other types of inappropriate behavior. The women, not identified in the report, either worked for O’Reilly or appeared on his show. The accusations dated at least as far back as 2002.
