The media life of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford sure has been busy lately! And after having his radio and TV shows canceled, Ford is triumphantly returning to the airwaves — in the U.S.
The Mayor will join the hosts of The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C. He’ll talk shop about his NFL picks on a weekly basic, according to the Capital’s CBS News affiliate.
Ford is slated to join the show at 8:40 a.m. on Thursdays. Sports fans and those curious to see what the unpredictable politician will say next can tune in to the live webcast, even if they don’t live in the D.C. metro area.
In the wake of his crack cocaine scandal, Ford lost his CFRB Newstalk 1010 radio show with his brother, City Councillor Doug Ford. Canadian TV channel Sun News Network then launched “Ford Nation,” a reality TV show featuring the duo. But Sun canceled the show after only one episode, citing production costs. The Fords then decided they would produce the show themselves, for YouTube, and write it off as a campaign expenditure in the Mayor’s re-election run.
Back in early November, the Mayor admitted that he had smoked crack — and it was all downhill from there. He was caught on camera drunkenly threatening to kill someone, and he used lewd language in front of the press to discount accusations of sexual impropriety.
But Ford isn’t stepping down from office, saying that the voters will decide his fate in 2014.
