Fans of long-extinct soda Surge have a fizzy reason to rejoice.
On Monday, Coca-Cola began selling 12-packs of 16 oz. cans of Surge exclusively on Amazon for $14 in response to a Facebook campaign to bring the popular ’90s beverage back to the market.

“Fans thirsty for a taste of ‘90s nostalgia – or those who are simply craving a citrus-flavored sparkling beverage with a kick – can rejoice in the news that SURGE is back after a 12-year hiatus,” reads the Coca-Cola website.
The announcement comes in response to the “SURGE Movement,” a Facebook campaign founded in 2011 that has garnered 130,000 likes and proclaims its mission “to bring back SURGE, the fully loaded citrus soda discontinued by the Coca-Cola Company in 2003.”
The group has made plays to spread word of the “movement” since its conception, including raising nearly $4,000 to purchase a billboard in 2013 near the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta that read, “Dear Coke, we couldn’t buy SURGE, so we bought this billboard instead.”
Coca-Cola’s decision to sell Surge on Amazon marks the first time that the company has sold a product solely online.
“If expectations are met, this may be only the first of a variety of efforts we explore to launch niche products through e-commerce relationships,” explained president of sparkling and strategic marketing for Coca-Cola North America Wendy Clark. “This will be a great learning experience for us and a refreshing opportunity for fans.”
According to BuzzFeed, the first batch of Surge was sold in an hour on Amazon. Look out, Mountain Dew.
