Euro RSCG helping to ?Make a Difference?

Agency: The Baltimore office of Euro RSCG, a global advertising and marketing agency network.

Client: The Maryland division of Business Volunteers Unlimited, connecting motivated people and businesses to nonprofit organizations.

Job: Create a logo, flier and e-mail sent to volunteers to spread the word about Make A Difference Day, and generate individual and company sign-ups for the event, which put volunteers to work on various projects around Baltimore on Saturday.

Theme: Bringing people together and educating them about what they can do to help their community.

The Concept: Euro RSCG looked at materials from other cities? events that drew community members together, and received some input from BVU. The company chose the logo, which resembles a sun rising, to emphasize the “dawning of a new day” and looking forward, said Megan Pashel, assistant account executive with Euro RSCG. “We wanted something that wasn?t too corporate; we?d done some work for [BVU] on the corporate side, and we wanted to do something more community-oriented,” Pashel said.

The Plan: Fliers for Make A Difference Day were mailed out about a month and a half ago, Pashel said, and have been placed in local community areas and gyms. A similar e-mail was sent out to BVU?s current list of volunteers.

Creative Team: Jim Chaplin, Barry Wise, Anne Donley, Amanda Yohe.

Background: BVU?s Volunteer Central is the primary resource for recruiting, developing and organizing volunteers in the greater Baltimore area. The organization?s programs have helped more than 30,000 people strengthen hundreds of nonprofit organizations. Make A Difference Day takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October.

This year?s event became the first Baltimore-specific version. It kicked off 8 a.m. Saturday at Our Daily Bread.
