Syrian extremists are using a Texas plumber’s truck as a gun platform

A Texas plumber has been on the receiving end of nasty comments because a truck he no longer owns is being used by extremist fighters in Syria.

Mark Oberholtzer, who has owned and operated Mark-1 Plumbing in Texas City, Texas for the past 32 years, was surprised to see an old pickup truck of his in a photo posted on Twitter by the Ansar al-Deen Front.

In the picture, a pickup truck with a Mark-1 Plumbing decal on the door is being used as a gun platform by the group’s militants in Syria.

Oberholtzer said he traded in the truck to an AutoNation dealership three years ago, according to the Galveston Daily News. He left the decal on the truck, expecting AutoNation would remove it, and has no clue how it ended up in the Middle East.

He began been receiving phone calls and threats since Monday.

“A few of the people are really ugly,” he said after the photo surfaced.

His business had also received a thousand phone calls and faxes about the image.

Derek Duckett, emergency management coordinator for Texas City, said he was unaware of any credible threats toward Oberholtzer and would be checking in with local police to see if Mark-1 plumbing needing anything.

“I just want it to go away, to tell you the truth,” Oberholtzer said.
