‘Too scared’: AOC slams Lauren Boebert for not doing regular town hall events

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) ribbed her colleague Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) for being “too scared” to host regular town halls Thursday.

Ocasio-Cortez’s comment came after Boebert threw shade at her, asserting that she rarely spends time with her constituents and sells them out. Both firebrand congresswomen have frequently traded barbs in the past.

“Hey Boebert, you seem to have us confused,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter. “I: have attended & hosted 100s of community events, hold regular town halls, don’t take a dime in corporate cash. You: are bankrolled by corporate PACs, Big Ag, & Oil, are too scared to hold regular town halls open to all,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.

Earlier this week, Ocasio-Cortez was heckled by an anti-war protester who lambasted her for backing Ukraine, alleging she was working toward initiating a “nuclear war” in Russia. The confrontation came during a Q&A portion at a town hall event the congresswoman held Wednesday.

The New York congresswoman voted to send $40 billion in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine in early May, a measure that passed with overwhelming bipartisan support.

“On the rare occasions that @AOC actually spends time with her constituents, she is reminded that she has sold them out at every turn,” Boebert said in a tweet. “She campaigned as an outsider and has now just morphed into #SandyPelosi.”

Boebert previously voted against bills in Congress to provide aid to Ukraine amid the Russian bombardment. She recently slammed America’s aid to Ukraine as a “scam.”

Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez has worked on legislation aimed at helping Ukrainians seek refuge in the United States.

The two firebrand congresswomen have frequently slammed each other in the past. Boebert trolled her New York counterpart with a dress featuring the phrase “Let’s Go Brandon” in a knock on Ocasio-Cortez’s “Tax the Rich” dress at the Met Gala last year.

Over the summer, Ocasio-Cortez pondered whether Boebert asked for a pardon from former President Donald Trump and insinuated she was part of the “KKK Caucus.”
