A Vermont deli is mocking Trump with a special sandwich ahead of his visit

With thousands of spectators expected to arrive in Burlington, Vt., Thursday evening for Donald Trump’s campaign rally, one local deli has decided to capitalize on the Republican presidential front-runner’s much-anticipated appearance.

Mike Williams, the owner of Burlington’s Kountry Kart Deli, is advertising “The Donald,” a special sandwich that mocks the billionaire’s bombastic personality and his habit of responding to questions with vague non-answers.

A sign for the sandwich, first discovered by Burlington Free Press reporter Joel Banner Baird, describes the $20.16 sub as “bologna on white bread.”

“Filled with B.S. (Bacon Slices) and topped with white American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and dressed with deli mustard (don’t worry Donald, there will be no spicy mustard here – we built a wall around it),” the sign teases.

“People have been coming by and stopping to take pictures, and talking about it inside,” one Kountry Kart employee told Boston.com.

The store also attempted to conduct a straw poll of sorts, placing two separate tip jars with the faces of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump taped to each. Williams said Trump’s jar collected $6.70 by close of business Thursday while the jar for Sanders had $120 in it.

Trump, who’s second in the Washington Examiner’s presidential power rankings, is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. ET Thursday evening in Burlington. Local police have warned that thousands of individuals seeking to attend the rally could be turned away due to the campaign’s distribution of 20,000 tickets for a venue that can hold just over 1,400 people.
