Less than a week after urging his state to vote for Ted Cruz, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has thrown his support behind Donald Trump.
“I’m fully supportive of our presumptive nominee, and I do think Donald Trump will do well in the state of Indiana,” Pence told reporters, according to Indianapolis’ Fox59. “I’m going to campaign hard for the Republican nominee because Indiana needs a partner in the White House.”
Even as he endorsed Cruz last week, Pence, a popular Republican governor, made a point of praising Trump for giving “voice to the frustration of millions of working Americans with a lack of progress in Washington, D.C.”
Trump went on to win the Indiana primary, which led Cruz to drop out from the race.
Also last week, Pence said he was “particularly grateful that Donald Trump has taken a strong stand for Hoosier jobs when we saw jobs in the Carrier company abruptly announce leaving Indiana not for another state, but for Mexico.”
