Former Speaker Newt Gingrich is getting in sparring shape for the relaunch of CNN’s “Crossfire” later this year.
On Tuesday morning, Gingrich sent several tweets getting into it with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., over a potential government shutdown, arguing that “disastrous spending and destructive Obamacare” is worse. (He also plugged the new “Crossfire.”)
Harry Reid would be a great guest on Crossfire this fall. We could debate the 1995 shutdown versus out of control spending and Obamacare

Reid responded with a question.
.@newtgingrich, to be clear, are you saying you support another government shutdown?

Cue Gingrich, who shared an op-ed he penned for the Washington Post in 2011, in which he argues that the 1995 government shutdown eventually led to the successful 1996 budget deal.
.@SenatorReid as I said in@washpost,GOP should work to keep gov open unless requires breaking word to American people http://t.co/kupfIt921W
