Trump calls CNN’s Jim Acosta ‘a rude, terrible person’

President Trump rumbled with reporters Wednesday at the White House during a press conference in which he answered questions related to the contentious midterm elections.

At one point, CNN correspondent Jim Acosta asked Trump to explain his emphasis on the caravan of Central American migrants headed to the southern border, which Trump has repeatedly referred to as “an invasion.”

Trump said he considered it an invasion and that any attempt to dispute that was a “difference of opinion.”

When Trump attempted to move on to another questioner, Acosta held onto the microphone to continue asking questions.

“You are a rude, terrible person,” Trump said to Acosta, also reprimanding him for what he said was “horrible” treatment of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders at the daily press briefings.

NBC correspondent Peter Alexander attempted to defend Acosta, calling him “a diligent reporter.” Trump said he also considered Alexander a poor reporter.

When April Ryan, a CNN contributor, also tried yelling out questions, Trump told her she was “rudely” interrupting her colleagues.

Yamiche Alcindor of PBS asked Trump whether he was appealing to supposed racial resentments among whites by calling himself a “nationalist.”

“It’s a very terrible thing you said,” Trump replied, calling the question “racist” and “insulting.”

Trump also said that the media overall were responsible for doing “a very divisive thing to the country” with its reporting, which he has long called unfair.
