Two school buses collided head-on in Northeast D.C. on Thursday, sending nine people — including several students — to area hospitals.
The crash happened at about 3 p.m. on Eastern Avenue NE, near Sheriff Road NE. The two buses crashed head-on on a straight section of road, said Pete Piringer, spokesman for D.C. fire and emergency services. He said police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
One bus was from D.C. Public Schools and the other was from Prince George’s County.
Two adults, who are believed to be the bus drivers, suffered serious injuries. Two other adults and five children suffered minor injuries.
Piringer said the children are elementary-school age, but he didn’t know what schools they were from.
