The Washington Area Bicyclist Association is seeking justice after organization leaders said a rider was struck by an angry motorist in D.C.
The group provided video footage it says was shot on the morning of Aug. 31 in which a green pickup truck pulls alongside the cyclist and tells him to move to the right side of the road. The pickup driver speeds up and the bicyclist goes sprawling into the street on Rhode Island Avenue in Northeast Washington. To see for yourself, check out the footage. (Note: The cyclists uses profanity repeatedly after the incident).
WABA is working to get an anti-harassment law in the District to protect cyclists. The organization is proposing a D.C. law modeled on one passed in July in Los Angeles that would provide for attorneys fees so cyclists who otherwise could not afford legal representation to seek justice and compensation, said WABA executive director Shane Farthing.
