El Chapo transferred to new prison

Notorious drug lord “El Chapo” was transferred to a new prison early Saturday.

El Chapo, real name Joaquin Guzman, gained notoriety as head of the Sinaloa crime family and his several infamous escapes from maximum security prisons in Mexico.

El Chapo was transferred from a prison in Altiplano, Mexico, to one in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The U.S. Justice Department is pushing to extradite Guzman for trial in the United States.

That was one reason that the crime lord was moved. A senior official told CNN, “Due to the proximity, it makes it easier to extradite him.”
