MontCo council to study long-term budgets

Montgomery County leaders say they don’t want to relive the nightmare that was this year’s budget season.

So, on Monday they will begin studying budget plans for the next five fiscal years and explore raising the amount of money injected into county reserves.

The county is awaiting feedback on its bond rating after being placed on a watch list for the second time in 35 years.

County Executive Ike Leggett wants to increase reserves to 10 percent of government revenue.

Council members will meet at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the seventh floor hearing room of the Council Office Building, at 100 Maryland Ave. in Rockville.
