AL Qaeda suicide attack rocks Yemen’s capital

Al Qaeda is believed to be behind a suicide truck bomb Wednesday that killed dozens of people, including police academy cadets in Yemen’s capital city of Sanaa.

The Embassy of the Republic of Yemen in Washington D.C. condemned the, “inhumane killings of police cadets today as they were departing the southern gate of the Police Academy for the weekend leave to reunite with their families. We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to their loved ones.”

The suicide bomber survived the initial blast but died shortly after at the hospital, Yemeni officials in Washington D.C. said.

According to Al Jazeera, a major Arab news outlet, the explosion killed at least 22 people, but the numbers are expected to increase.

Dozens of people were injured and at least ten police cadets were among the dead, Yemeni officials said.
