A Republican lawmaker told CNN reporter Manu Raju that he could “interview himself” if he kept on asking questions in which he was drawing predetermined conclusions.
“The substance of the things that have come out is that the president asked for a public investigation into his rivals and also Ukraine aid was being withheld,” Raju told Rep. Mark Amodei, a Nevada Republican, in an interview CNN aired Tuesday.
“Well, that’s your conclusion,” Amodei responded.
“That’s not my conclusion. I’m saying that’s what’s come out,” Raju hit back before Amodei called it a “conclusion” again and said he disagreed with the question.
“You’re not answering my question about the substance of the allegation,” the CNN reporter said as Amodei continued to dodge his questions.
“My English teacher says you’ve got a conclusion,” Amodei said to Raju about his question. “So if you wanna interview yourself, go right ahead. You’re interviewing me.”
House Democrats are currently looking at impeaching President Trump over a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which they allege he threatened to withhold military aid if Ukraine did not investigate Joe Biden.
Amodei came under fire from Republicans a few weeks ago when he said about impeachment, “Let’s put it through the process and see what happens.”
