A 35-year-old Capitol Heights man was sentenced to 18 years in prison for the 2007 fatal stabbing of a D.C. man.
A District jury found Leroy Jenkins guilty of voluntary manslaughter while armed, carrying a dangerous weapon and obstruction of justice in the death of Rahim Winston, 30.
Prosecutors said the two men got into argument in the 1300 block of C Street SE on Sept. 1, 2007, prosecutors said, and Jenkins pulled out a knife and stabbed Winston in the arm and chest.
Winston stumbled down the 300 block of Kentucky Avenue, collapsed and died.
A week later, Jenkins’ girlfriend told police that Jenkins had admitted to the stabbing, and after his arrest, tried to get his girlfriend to recant her story, prosecutors said. At a preliminary hearing, she denied every hearing her boyfriend confess to the killing.
