President Trump offered to help British Prime Minister Theresa May in a Tuesday morning phone call, just hours after a terrorist attack in Manchester, England, that left 22 people dead.
“The president reassured the prime minister that Americans stand with the people of the United Kingdom and that our resolve will never waiver in the face of terrorism,” the White House said after the call. “He offered American aid in the United Kingdom’s investigation and vowed to continue the mutual fight against terrorism.”
“The two leaders agreed that this attack — which targeted teenage children and their friends at a joyous event — was particularly wanton and depraved,” the White House said.
“Both leaders commended the courage, speed, and professionalism of those who responded to the wounded, secured the innocent, and tended to the survivors and their families,” it added.
The Islamic State is taking responsibility for the attack at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.
